About Us
Women’s House Serving Bruce and Grey is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending violence against women and children. Our team is passionate about making a positive difference, and we believe in the power of technology and communication to connect people, amplify voices, and create meaningful change.
We’re currently looking for a motivated and creative student to join us this summer, supporting both our Information Technology needs and our digital communications efforts.
Position Overview
As the Information Technology & Digital Communications Summer Student, you’ll have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with a compassionate, community-focused team. This role involves providing basic IT support for staff and contributing to the organization’s online presence by creating engaging digital content that shares our mission and supports those we serve.
Key Responsibilities
Information Technology Support
Assist with troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues for staff.
Help set up, maintain, and organize computers, laptops, and mobile devices.
Support the organization’s digital security and safe use of technology.
Keep IT records and inventory up to date.
Provide friendly, approachable tech support to a nonprofit team.
Digital Communications Support
Help create, schedule, and share content for social media, newsletters, and website updates.
Design simple, clear digital materials (graphics, posters, infographics) using tools like Canva.
Support storytelling projects and awareness campaigns by preparing and posting content.
Track and report on social media engagement and digital reach.
Participate in creative planning sessions with staff and community partners.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Information Technology, Digital Media, Communications, or a related field.
Comfortable with computer troubleshooting, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.
Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) and basic content creation tools.
Creative thinker with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Friendly, patient, and able to work well with people of diverse backgrounds.
Interest in community work, nonprofit organizations, and social justice is an asset.
Previous related work, volunteer, or lived experience is valued.
