Community support is vital.
Women’s House Serving Bruce & Grey is a non-profit organization funded by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services and Ministry of the Attorney General. It was founded in 1985. However, in order to continue to operate all of our services we will need to fundraise approximately $150,000 each year. We need the support of the community in order to do this.
Women and children are counting on us as they flee from abusive situations in their own homes and look for safe shelter and counselling services. In many cases, lives are saved by the critical intervention provided by our shelter. Statistics show that of all the women murdered in Canada, 62% were killed by their partners. In communities where there are shelters, this rate is less.
